Final Weekly Update
Happy Weekend Hammerheads!
Final update. Wow. I want to begin this email by offering a deep and loving thank you to Mary Dodd Walker - who has been the best supervisor, mind-reader and low key superhero a swim team could ever ask for. She's the type of person that everyone hopes to have on their team and the kind of friend who would do anything to help. As begin this final week together, please be sure to give her an extra hug, an extra smile and an extra thank you for all her years of service. She is truly one in a million.
To Nina, Olivia and Mrs. Wright, it's almost time to enter a new era & we couldn't be more thankful the three of you will be leading the charge. You are the optime of what we hope all hammerheads to be - altruistic, generous and teachers of kindness. Know that me, Mary Dodd and all our fellow Hammerheads are cheering you on as you take this next step into Hammerhead history!
Lastly, thank you to every parent, every swimmer, and every coach for all the time, effort and love you've poured into our community. There will never be enough words, hugs or tears to explain how much being on your team or serving as your coach has meant to me. When I was as little as five, I knew I wanted to one day serve as a leader on this team. You all have made that dream come true in more ways than I could have ever imagined. It's been the biggest gift and I am forever grateful.
While it's hard for me to say goodbye, I'm beyond excited for this next chapter of coaches & comforted by the fact that saying "goodbye" really just means "I live walking distance from the pool & I'll see you soon!" No matter how much time passes, I'll always be here for each of you.

At 5:00 PM, we will begin with dinner & our end of year slideshow! Next, we will start to present awards for each age group. Every swimmer gets a paper plate award and medal. After those are handed out, we will wrap up with our awards ceremony with MVP, most improved and end of year “whistle awards!” Lastly, we will all make our way to the pool for our seniors’ final swim in the pool & then close out with our final cheer of the season. If you’ve never been to end of the year party, just know it’s one of the most special parts of our season. The party is full of decade long traditions that will most likely bring a tear to your eye.
5. Awards and Ribbons
If you are unable to come to the party, final ribbons and awards will be left in the pool clubhouse through the second week in July for pick up. You can always have a family friend grab them for you!
Shoutout to all the amazing dads who make our team so special. We appreciate you more than you know! Wishing everyone a safe and happy Father's Day tomorrow!
Sincerely (one last time),
Coach Laney
