Hammond Hills Swim Team Job Descriptions
CLEAN UP CREW:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- You are responsible for staying after the swim meet to clean up the pool deck (including trash pick up, taking full trash bags to the dumpster, and bringing all lost and found to the clubhouse).
JUDGE:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- The Judge is responsible for determining the places of each swimmer in each race
- Judges are required to sit on the far side of the pool for half of the meet
- This position lasts for half of the meet, therefore, you would have to pick first half or second half for your time slot.
TIMER:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- Timers work in pairs and are responsible for recording the time of the swimmer in their assigned lane for each race with a provided stop watch.
- Timers are required to stand at the beginning or end of their assigned lane for half of the meet and write down their times on a clipboard
- This position lasts for half of the meet, therefore, you would have to pick first half or second half for your time slot.
MASTER RECORDER:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- Master Recorder is responsible for recording the times of all swimmers onto provided sheet; will require walking back and forth between lanes to receive times from timers.
- This position lasts for half of the meet, therefore, you would have to pick first half or second half for your time slot.
RIBBON WRITER:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- Ribbon Writers are responsible for appropriately labeling ribbons and filing them into the correct file.
- Ribbon Writers position last for half of the meet. However, 2nd Shift ribbon writers may not leave until all ribbons are filed.
ANNOUNCER:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- The Announcer are responsible for making announcements throughout the meet over the loud speaker. Most announcements are about the event number, bullpen parent reminders, and the team’s sponsors.
- This position lasts for the entire meet.
CONCESSION WORKERS:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- Concession Workers are responsible for helping the Concession Manager to fulfill orders, make snow cones, run the cash register, etc. and clean-up the concession area
- This position lasts for half of the meet, therefore, you would have to pick first half or second half for your time slot. 2nd half volunteer shift includes concessions clean-up.
JUDGE RECORDER:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- A Judge Recorder works alongside two other judges and is responsible for recording the places of swimmers in each race onto a master sheet.
- This position lasts for half of the meet, therefore, you would have to pick first half or second half for your time slot.
RUNNER:
- Any parent with a child on the swim team is eligible for this position.
- Runners are responsible for taking the swimmer's times from the Master Recorder to the Hytek Manager (who is set up on the tennis court deck).
- This position lasts for half of the meet, therefore, you would have to pick first half or second half for your time slot.
Bull Pen Parent:
- Only parents with a swimmer in the age group they sign-up for are eligible for this position. (If you volunteer for 6&under bull pen- you have to have a 6&under swimmer.)
- Bull pen parents refer to an event sheet given by the parent rep to make sure all swimmers in their age group are lined up, organized, and taken to correct lanes prior to their event.
