Weather Tonight and ASA Meet Reminder

    Hey all,

Starting to get texts about weather.... It is definitely pouring and there are definitely flash flood warnings. However, in all my years of coaching, I've never had to call a meet before we got there. Today might be that day, but we won't send out anything until much closer to 4PM if it's cancelled. If you do not recieve an email about the meet being cancelled then it is on!!!!! In addition, we will also post on the facebook group with updates.

If it's raining and not thundering, we will still hold the meet. The only time we won't swim in the rain is if it is raining so hard that you can't see the bottom of the pool. This is rare. We will also sit out thunder delays if at all possible. Make-Up Meets are always worst case senario and will be avoided at all costs. Lastly, it's been awhile since it has rained this hard before a meet but please keep in mind that rain does not make meets optional. Once you commit to a swim meet or do not send in an absence prior to planning, it is mandatory to attend unless there is an emergency. So many hours are spent planning these meets so it is important that everyone shows up rain or shine! :)

Lastly, in preparation for worst case senario, we have set up a make up date in the case that is postponed. If it is cancelled (which it is not at this time), the make up meet would be tomorrow (Wednesday, June 21st). NOTE: This is the POTENIAL make up meet, there is no make up meet yet. The meet is still on for tonight at this time. If you have swimmer(s) that would not be a able to attend a POTENIAL make up meet tomorrow, please send a note to [email protected] now!! This will help us with planning if we have to reschedule the meet.

Lastly, a reminder that the deadline to sign up for the ASA Swim Meet is this Thursday, June 22nd. All you have to do is email Coach Laney and write a check for $20 per swimmer. Make the header of the email "ASA Meet" and tell her which two events you would like your swimmer(s) to swim at Georgia Tech. Next, bring your check made out to HHSTA ($20 per swimmer) to swim practice by Thursday afternoon. After that, there will be $25 late fee. This meet is optional and recommended only for competitive swimmers/year round swimmers/high school swimmers. The meet will take place at Georgia Tech on Thursday, June 29th. If you want to qualify for the Sandy Springs State Swim Team, you must attend this meet in order to be considered/compete to qualify. Sandy Springs State Team will practice at Hammond Hills throughout July and then compete at the State Meet at the end of July.

If the meet is cancelled, we will still have Game Day starting at 10AM tomorrow morning (assuming the pool is ready and open). Thank you for patience as we work through these issues!

    See everyone soon (hopefully!),

    Coach Laney
