Good morning Hammerheads!!!!!

Hope everyone had a great beginning to their week! We have a lot planned for this week and the week after Memorial Day so we just wanted to take some time to clarify the schedule as well as answer some frequently asked questions. Below, we have listed the email's agenda so you are able to quickly identify the topics that apply to your family.

1. Schedule for this week! (Week #2)

Tuesday (5/23): 
- No Junior Sharks Practice
- Normal Practice Schedule for all other age groups

Wednesday (5/24): PICTURE DAY
- ALL swimmers report to the pool (at the LATEST) between 4:30-4:45PM!
- Our picture company has agreed to start taking individuals at 4PM; So if you can, please come early and take your photos!

Thursday (5/26): TIME TRIALS!
- Normal Junior Sharks Practice
- Normal Practice Schedule
- Pizza Crosta selling dinner in the clubhouse starting at 5PM! 15% back to the Hammerheads so come hungry! :)
- This is a VERY important practice; please make sure your swimmers attend if at all possible!

Friday (5/27): NO PRACTICE! (No more Friday afternoon practices for the rest of the season)

Monday (5/29): NO PRACTICE - MEMORIAL DAY!

Tuesday (5/30): FIRST DAY WITH MORNING PRACTICE OPTION
- Morning Practice: See "Practice Schedule" tab on website for details!
- Afternoon Practice: YES TO JUNIOR SHARKS PRACTICE/Normal Practice Schedule

Wednesday (5/31): FIRST SWIM MEET OF THE SEASON
- Morning Practice as normal 
- Afternoon: SWIM MEET AT HAMMOND HILLS! (Arrival Time: 4-4:15PM)/No Junior Sharks Practice

Thursday (6/1):
- Morning (GAME DAY): All swimmers arrive to the pool at 10AM! No regular morning practice!
​- Afternoon (TIME TRIALS): YES TO JUNIOR SHARKS PRACTICE/Normal Schedule for all age groups

Friday (6/2):
- Morning Practice: Normal schedule for morning practice!
- Afternoon: No Friday afternoon practice!

3. PICTURE DAY TOMORROW! (Wednesday, June 23rd)

- ALL swimmers report to the pool (at the LATEST) between 4:30-4:45PM!
- Our picture company has agreed to start taking individuals at 4PM; So if you can, please come early and take your photos!
- Please fill out the form attached below before arriving to the pool if possible; it will save you lots of time!
- There are two types of photos you will take at the pool: 
(1) Family photo: This picture does not include parents or siblings who do not participate on swim team; family photos include all your children who are participating on swim team for this year. If you only have one child on swim team, it will be an individual photo of your swimmer. If you have 4 swimmers on the team, you will have 4 swimmers in the family photo. (If you really want individuals of each of your children in addition to the family photo, this may be possible. However, it is not done often).
(2) Team Photo: We will start lining up the kiddos by age group and then height. This process is run by the coaches! Please make sure your kids are on time! :)
- After your family photo and the team photo has been taken, you can head home! There will be no practice paired with picture day.

4. Junior Sharks

- Do Junior Sharks participate in Picture Day? YES.
- What days do Junior Sharks practice over the next two weeks? Thursday May 25th, Tuesday May 30th, and Thursday June 1st
​- Do Junior Sharks participate in swim meets? NO, but we would love for them to attend with their parents to see a swim meet!
- Should I tell the coaches if my J.S. can swim across the deep end? YES.
- Do Junior Sharks get timed during Time Trials? NO, all other age groups are timed.

5. Weather Policy

Reminder that we will send out an email and post on the Facebook Group if practice is cancelled! We do not cancel practice unless it is absolutely pouring, lightening, and/or thundering. We completed all practices yesterday in the rain and it was fun! Assume practice is always on unless we tell you otherwise! :) 

6. First Time Trials of the Season (THIS Thursday, May 25th)

- What are Time Trials? The coaches have each swimmer swim the length of the pool as fast they can and they record their time!
- Why do you time each swimmer? Time Trials are the key to strategizing both meets and practices.
- How important is it that my swimmer is at Time Trials? REALLY IMPORTANT! :)
- Will there always be a fundraising dinner at the pool during every Time Trials? YES! So relax and don't worry about dinner once a week! Come to the pool hungry on Thursday nights for a fun meal that supports our Hammerheads! This week Pizza Crosta (our after-meet dinner location) will be serving drinks and their awesome pizza in the clubhouse starting at 5PM!

7. First Swim Meet of the Season (Wednesday, 5/31)

First meet of the season is at Hammond Hills Pool against the Riverside Streaks!
- Arrival Time: 4-4:15PM
- Warm-ups: 4:45PM
​- Meet Start Time: 5:30PM
​- Concessions will be available so come hungry!
- After Meet Dinner Location is at Pizza Crosta!
*YOU MUST LET US KNOW BY THIS THURSDAY IF YOU WILL NOT BE AT THIS MEET.

8. MEET ABSENCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Seriously SO IMPORTANT)

We can not stress enough how important it is to let us know if your child is NOT going to be at any given meet. Meets take hours of planning and we strategize based on what swimmers are attending. If your child will not be at the first meet, please go to the swim meet tab on our website and hit the RVSP button. Next, RVSP every swimmer that will not be attending the meet with a "NO." Below, we have listed every swimmer who has said they are not attending our first swim meet on Wednesday, May 31st. If your child is NOT attending and is not on the list below, PLEASE RVSP your swimmer(s) now! We are planning the swim meet on Thursday and need to have all RSVPs by that time.

9. Mandatory Volunteering

Just a reminder that all families must volunteer at least twice at swim meets! Volunteer Sign-Ups and directions can be found on the website. If volunteer requirements are not fulfilled, your family will be charged a fine. So please sign up!

10. T-Shirts and Swim Caps

T-Shirts will be given out at next Tuesday's practice (5/30). Late sign-ups do not receive t-shirts (they are ordered ahead of time). If you ordered swim caps with your registration, they will be put in your family's t-shirt bag for pick up at practice. If you would still like to buy a swim cap, they are available for purchase at the swim meets!
