1. RSVP TO THE FIRST MEET
Our first meet is next Wednesday, June 1st! It is AWAY and at Riverside Pool. You can find the address and other details about our meets under the Swim Meets Tab on our website. YOU MUST RSVP IF YOUR SWIMMER(S) WILL NOT BE AT THE FIRST MEET (Sorry for the caps, but that is really important). Do I need to RSVP if my child will be at the meet? No. The RSVP feature is used to show who will not NOT be at the meet. Why is so important to RSVP? Because if your child is not going to be at the meet, then we need to make sure we do not write them in.
How do I RSVP that my swimmer(s) will not be at the meet?
1. Go to our homepage.
2. Select the RSVP button next to Meet #1 on the left sidebar.
3. Click "Add Swimmer."
4. Type your swimmer's name in.
5. HIT SAVE at the bottom of the screen.
When should I RSVP? Right now if possible! It will only take a minute!
What if I know my child will NOT be attending a meet later on in the season? Can I RSVP that they will not be at that specific meet now? YES! All the meets are listed on the left sidebar and under the swim meet tab. Click the RSVP button next the meet your swimmer(s) cannot attend and type in their names. Don't forget to hit save and remember - only RSVP if your swimmers will not be at that meet!
2. Barberitos TONIGHT at Time Trials!
We encourage you to take the night off from cooking and enjoy Barberitos at the pool tonight! They will have a Nacho Bar set up in the clubhouse from 5-8PM. Nacho Plates are $7.00, Chips/Queso are $3.00, and Tea/Lemonade are $2.00. AND we get 35% on all orders!!!!!!!!!!
**IMPORTANT: Please do not let your swimmers eat dinner until after their Time Trials are completed. The last thing we want is upset tummies because a belly full of nachos swimming at racing speed. The Nacho Bar will be open until 8PM so there's no rush!
3. Remind 101 App
Coach Stephi launched a texting app with our 11&Ups age group this season and it seems to be working really well! It is a great way for us to quickly send reminders about practice, the weather, and items they need to bring to the pool. Therefore, we would like to launch with our awesome parents too! It is super easy to sign up. All you have to do is text "@coachlaney" to 81010. This is very optional, however, we encourage all of our parents to subscribe as it will be the quickest way to receive updates about swim team throughout the season.
4.T-Shirt Pick-Up
If you registered before April 26th, don't forget to pick your Team T-Shirts! They will be located on the desk near the front door.
5. Junior Sharks/6&Under Evaluations
After three days of evaluations, we think we have a good idea of who will be moving to Junior Sharks and who will be moving to 6&Unders. Junior Sharks will be reserved for those swimmers who need to work on their foundational swimming skills. 6&Unders will be reserved for those swimmers who can swim independently in the deep end and are close to or are able to swim the length of the pool. For those parents whose swimmer(s) may be moving from 6&Unders to Junior Sharks, we do not want you to be discouraged! Junior Sharks is ages 4-6 years old. The instruction is guided to teach them all the skills they need to swim independently. In addition, we intend for their time in Junior Sharks to be temporary! Junior Sharks is very flexible in that swimmers can move to 6&Unders as soon as they able to swim independently in the deep end and have the stamina to swim across the pool.
6&Under and Junior Sharks parents will receive an email by Friday afternoon confirming what group their swimmer(s) will be assigned to for Week #3. In addition, if you are seeking more opportunities to improve your child's swimming abilities, we highly encourage you to look into private lessons and bring your child to play at the pool regularly. Some of the best practice is just playing in the shallow end with friends!
6. 6&Unders Swim Meet Eligibility
We have found ourselves in a very unique situation this summer where we have a handful of 6&Unders who are EXTREMELY close to swimming the length of the pool independently but are not quite there yet. These swimmers will not be moving to Junior Sharks because we are pretty sure by the end of next week that we will be able to swim laps with the rest of their age group. However, because they are not able or comfortable swimming the length independently yet, they will not be eligible to swim in the first meet. These parents who have child who meet this description will receive an email by Friday afternoon informing them of these circumstances. However, we still highly encourage these families to bring their swimmers to the first meet! Meets are so fun, but can be a little overwhelming at times. It would be very helpful for these swimmers to see a swim meet before they swim a race.
7. One last reminder!
One last reminder to RSVP to the first meet if your swimmer will not be attending (next Wednesday, June 1st @ Riverside Pool). There is a lot of information in this email so we just wanted to plug that one more time! :)
All the best,
Your HH Swim Coaches
