    Week #1 Wrap-up / Week #2 Updates and Reminders

    HEY HAMMERHEADS!!!!

To begin, we just want to say THANK YOU for an awesome first week of practice! The first few days are always an adjustment and the kids handled it beautifully. In addition, we want to give a shout out to our awesome Hammerhead Parents - who continually make us feel appreciated and supported!

Week #1 was full of introductions, stroke technique, and review. Week #2 will be very similar as we gear up for Time Trials on Thursday. The biggest difference between Week #2 and Week #1 is that this week will be more challenging - but nothing your kiddos can't handle! You should expect them to be tired as we will continue to focus on sharpening their skills while also building their stamina and speed. As we look forward to this week, we encourage you to send your swimmer with a water bottle, goggles, a hair tie, and one piece (girls) or tight suit (boys). All of the items will help your swimmer be at their fullest potential while at practice and in the water.

Additional important updates and reminders are listed below. A numbered list has also been included to help you efficiently read through all of the important content.

    1. Team T-Shirts and Swim Caps

    1. Team T-Shirts and Caps

If you registered online before April 26th, your swimmer(s) will receive team t-shirts. This t-shirt deadline was necessary to ensure that the merchandise could be received and organized before the first meet. In addition, adult merchandise was available for purchase before April 26th. T-shirt pickup will be tomorrow at practice (and the practice days following). Those families' will have bag with their last name on it. The bag will contain ALL of the family's merchandise for the season (including swim caps). Those who ordered swim caps after April 26th will also have a bag with their last name that contains swim caps, but no team t-shirts.

    2. Time Trials and Food Vendor

This Thursday is our first set of time trials and it is incredibly important that all swimmers are there if possible!!!! In addition, BARBERITOS has graciously offered to host a fundraiser NACHO BAR at the pool for dinner!!!! Nacho Plates will be $7.00 and Chips/Queso will be $3.00. We will receive 35% BACK ON ALL ORDERS - Thank you Barberitos!!!! For our team to continue have food vendors at Time Trials, we need to have great participation so we highly encourage everyone join in on the nacho bar festivities.

    3. Junior Sharks/6&Unders after Memorial Day

Over the next week, we will be evaluating our Junior Sharks & 6&Unders skills sets. At the end of the week, we will be moving some 6&Unders to Junior Sharks and some Junior Sharks to 6&Unders based on the skills evaluation. These moves will help us best address each swimmers' needs and skill level. 6&Unders will be reserved for swimmers who are able to swim laps or are close to swimming the full length of the pool. Junior Sharks will be reserved for swimmers who are still learning foundational swimming skills (such as holding their breath underwater, kicking with correct technique, and stamina).

    4. No 11&Ups Practice this Wednesday / Dry Land Practice

There will be no practice this Wednesday for the 11&Ups age group. Every other age group will practice on Wednesday. Practice will be held as normal for this age group on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Dry Land practice for this age group will be held on Tuesday - make sure they wear tennis shoes and also wear their bathing suit! Girls should wear shorts with their one piece suit and boys should wear a t-shirt with their suit.
